Tunning: Honda Motor Co. TOKYO Ltd. announced an all-new series of Forza scooters

The Forza has enjoyed strong sales since its previous new-model release in 2004, with new registrations in the calendar year 2005 totaling 20,5751 vehicles. The new Forza inherits the earlier models' popular design and performance capabilities. The key concepts in the development of the new series were convenient packaging and a comfortable, fun ride. These stylish new scooters take sporty styling and ease of handling to a new level.

The design of the new Forza has been updated with improvements to the front meter visor and trim, as well as to the shape of the headlights. A reduced cowl profile makes the front view even sportier. Bold rear styling has been achieved through the adoption of clear lenses on right and left tail light units, built into the rear cowl. In addition, the shape of inner stop lamps and turn signal indicators have been changed into round shapes equipped with nine LEDs per side for increased visibility and sharp rear-view.

The manual shift mode of the Honda S-Matic transmission on the Forza Z and Forza Z ABS has been upgraded from six speeds to seven, and the scooters are the first in the world2 to be outfitted with an auto-shift mode in addition to a kick-down gear shifter, all of which create a riding experience finely tuned to driving conditions.

The Forza X is available in Pure Black, brilliant Pearl Milky White, and the Forza Z is offered with 2 more choices of luxurious Digital Silver Metallic and Winning Red, the color very popular on the previous "Forza Z Special" limited version,. The Forza Z ABS is available in Pure Black and Digital Silver Metallic.

Key Features

Honda S-Matic transmission

The Forza Z and Forza Z ABS are the world's first scooters to be equipped with the Honda S-Matic, an automatic transmission popular for its ability to provide the same driving performance and operability as a manual transmission. The Honda S-Matic offers riders a choice of three different transmission modes; a dual-mode (D-mode, S-mode), automatic mode, and a six-speed manual mode — depending on driving conditions.

The Honda S-Matic installed on the new Forza Z and Forza Z ABS scooters offers for the first time a fourth choice — auto-shift mode. In addition to employing a kick-down mechanism, auto-shift mode allows riders to shift among seven speed ranges in order to fine tune their ride for an optimal driving experience.

Kawasaki Focuses on Refinement for 2002

The closest thing to an all-new model in Kawasaki's street bike line-up (leaving aside the Mean Streak Power Cruiser reviewed earlier by MD) is the ZZ-R1200 sport tourer. The ZZ-R1200 derives many, but not all, of its components from Kawasaki's existing ZRX1200R and Ninja ZX-11 motorcycles (the ZX-11 is discontinued for 2002). The 1164cc four-cylinder engine plucked from the ZRX1200R is a superb unit (see our review of the ZRX1200R). According to Kawasaki, it has been tweaked for even more low and mid-range power (hard to believe) and has a revised cylinder head and different carburetors. Additionally, the pistons have been altered from the ZRX1200R design. The ZX-11 derived frame has been stiffened with thicker rails and a new steering head, and features a steel subframe to provide the strength necessary to accommodate saddlebags (color matched luggage will be offered by Givi).

Steering geometry changes were made for quicker handling, and the swingarm of the ZZ-R1200 has been lightened and lowered versus the ZX-11 unit.

The ergonomics of the ZZ-R1200 are relaxed versus the ZX-11, with closer bars and lower, more forward footpegs.

Every new KTM revealed

MCN has uncovered a leaked company report revealing every single new model coming from KTM in the next two years.

The report was published by Eastern European bank Raiffeisen Centro, and recommends investors to buy shares in the company. The report includes a full three year model plan (the report was compiled in 2006 and completed early in 2007) for the company.

The document attributes KTM’s recent sales growth to the expansion of the on-road range, and calls the new range ‘an on-road offensive’.

The ranges will be based around three engines – the current ‘990’ V-twin engine (actually 999cc), the 690 single introduced for 2007 (actually 654cc), and an all-new ‘1190’ v-twin (real capacity 1199cc).

Highlights of the forthcoming range include a production version of the Venom concept bike, using the 1190 engine, and an RC4 single-cylinder sportsbike - both due to be part of the 2009 model

The Fastest R&D Lab On the Planet

The tech behind the 200mph MotoGP superbikes is taking to the streets. Get a taste of the action with our heart-pounding, high-speed video lap around the Laguna Seca racetrack
By Robert Earle Howells Posted 07.01.2006 at 2:00 am 0 Comments
A 747 takes off at 200 mph–the top speed of a Ferrari. MotoGPbikes break two bills with power to spare. MotoGP is the ultimate motorcycle racing series, a pure combination of advanced technology and athletes psychotic enough to pilot these overpowered machines at speeds most wouldn't dare with four tires on the ground. Riders lean so severely into turns that they scrape their elbows and knees on the asphalt; brake so hard they have to force their weight over the back end of the bike to keep it from flipping; and accelerate so violently that their front wheels often leave the ground. The only reason the riders make it out alive is because they drive the most precisely engineered motorcycles ever made. Fortunately for the pro racer in all of us, that technology goes from pit lane to dealership nearly as fast as it gets around the track.

Take, for example, Honda's RC211V-the bike Nicky Hayden rode to victory in the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix last July. The most advanced machine on the MotoGP circuit, it weighs less than 330 pounds yet packs more than 240 horsepower (around 150 hp more than an average street bike). It rockets to 100 mph in less than five seconds and can hit 215 mph. Oh, and it costs about $3 million. But much of the engineering that makes it all possible found its way to the Honda showroom on a 2006 model that anyone can pick up for around $11,000.

The CBR1000RR was designed concurrently with its MotoGP sibling, and it also benefited from lessons learned on the track. "The street-bike R&D teams worked side by side with the racing-development team," says Honda vice president Ray Blank. "Typically you see technology transfer several years down the road, but in this case they were developed almost simultaneously. It's real-time technology transfer."

The CBR, which came out not three months after the 2005 season ended, incorporates virtually the same fuel injection, rear suspension and body-panel design as the RC211V, among other mutations of the track monster's mojo. The CBR isn't nearly as powerful-and it's street-legal (spitting flames out your tailpipe is frowned upon in California)-but put it next to Hayden's, and it's hard to tell them apart.

This is, of course, much to the delight of superbike enthusiasts, who can buy a stock ride that packs a huge percentage of the MotoGP thrill. It´s also far, far more performance than any rider actually needs. But when it comes to buying a race-bred street bike, who said anything about need?

Chinese motorbikes on sale in the US of A!

Long Island residents in the USA will be no doubt estatic to find that Chinese motor bikes are being sold locally. The bikes, the 300 Spyder and the 300 raptor were made in Wenzhou China, and then exported to the distributer, Johnny Pag, in California before being sent to the dealer in Long Island. The bikes cost just less then $4,000USD.

The 300c bikes can reach 75mph without any problems.

Bikernet, a website aimed at big fat guys that ride motorbikes gave the Spyder a favorable review, you can check it out here (watch out for the barely dressed girls at the bottom of the page though)

2005 Kawasaki Z750S: MD First Ride2005 Kawasaki Z750S: MD First Ride

A few years ago, many of us wondered when some of the trick-looking naked bikes sold in Europe might make their way to the U.S. market. I suppose we could say that Suzuki's Bandit 1200 really got the U.S. motorcycle consumer salivating for nakeds in the late 1990s. Patience has rewarded us with a number of models to choose from these days, including Kawasaki's Z750S.

Although Kawasaki calls the 2005 Z750S new, a version of this machine has been available in Europe, but it is new to the U.S. market this year. The 2005 model features some changes over last year's Euro model, particularly, with regard to wind protection.

The Z750S creates a niche between the 600/650 category of nakeds populated by Suzuki's SV, Honda's 599 and others, on the one hand, and the open-class nakeds such as Honda's 919 and Yamaha's FZ1 on the other. Based to some extent on it's bigger brother the Z1000, the Z750S hopes to find that sweet spot where some of the engine performance of the larger machines is combined with a price comparable to some of the smaller machines.

2007 BMW K1200R Sport Bike Test

is a broad question and in recent years BMW has attempted to answer it with its own Germanic take on the genre. Dominated by the Big Four from Japan, the sportbike marketplace is glutted with high-performance racing platforms snatched up by 20-somethings in search of the latest thrill. BMW has entered the sportbike fray with an older customer base and its stolid reputation for luxury and comfort. Yet the German firm leaves no doubt of the sporting capabilities from its latest Inline-Four, having stuck the Sport moniker in the new design's name - the BMW K1200R Sport.

The Sport is a tweener model in BMW's K-series family, a hybrid of its fully-faired K1200S and the naked K1200R siblings. In the sportbike market as a whole, the K1200R Sport is even harder to define, with its engine placing it somewhere between a superbike and hyper-sportbikes like the Hayabusa or ZX-14. It is neither one of these extremes, however, and is miscast as the aggressive machine most motorcycle folk conjure up when they hear the term "sportbike." It's like putting Arnold Schwarzeneger in a martial arts flick, he can deliver the muscles and bad dialogue, but Jet Li would slice up the Governator like an order of Hibachi chicken at Benihana.

Kaiser

The Kaisar XTR is a sports 125cc motorcycle. With its popular design and sleek styled fairing it will not go un-noticed. Although it has plenty of power on hand it is still very manageable for its users.

Pulse Adrenaline

The Adrenaline rides the current wave of high demand for performance motorcross bikes for the road. Behind the custom-designed vinyls and sleek fairings lies a superb 125cc engine, air-cooled and with a maximum torque of 14.5Nm @ 7000 rpm, spoked twin wall wheels with huge supermoto tyres to provide all the power you need. The heavy-duty suspension consists of a rear mono-shock with adjustable damper, and upside-down forks to ensure maximum riding comfort. Add this to a smooth 5 gear transmission, hydraulic front disc brake and stylish road tyres, the Adrenaline is among the best of its kind, an opinion substantiated by MCN, having given it a glowing review and a 4-star rating.

"The Adrenaline is great value. It offers all the cool styling of a proper supermoto at a fraction of the cost... it looks the part too, and is particularly impressive from the front" - MCN

Jinlun Spartan

The Jinlun Spartan is a 250cc cruiser motorcycle. This great looking cruiser offers great comfort along with the reliability and low running cost of a powerful 250cc engine. This cruiser is great for longer commutes as well as touring further a field.

Well, its time to rejoice…Finally after months of waiting, the fans of Yamaha in India are now presented a gift in form of this wonderful Yamaha MT ..

The Texan is a 125cc cruiser motorcycle from the popular brand of Jinlun. Its low-ride styling offers great comfort mile after mile, along with the reliability and low running cost of a 4-stroke engine. Without a doubt, the Texan is a great start into the life of motorcycling and is easily among the favourites of its category.

Imported Sports Bikes in India

Imported bikes enjoy a cult status among Indian bike aficionados. Notwithstanding their exorbitant pricing, high-performance superbikes like Suzuki Hayabusa and Kawasaki Ninja have been plying in the Indian roads courtesy the cash-rich, style-savvy Indian youth. These awesome machines have been imported to India as the home-grown manufacturers are yet to come up with genuine high-speed superbikes.

Here are some of the popular bikes imported in India:

Yamaha for sports

When we talk about sports what comes to our mind? Race, bikes, cars, etc. What strikes immediately when we get to hear about bike races? powerful, classic and colorful sport bikes… Yamaha, what does this word brings to your mind? Of course sport bikes. Yamaha has successfully launched some of the daring motor cycles of the world. We may say that this company is dedicated to racing sport. We can describe a lot about the creations of yamaha and one of their destroying creation is YFZ-R1. It a 1000cc devil and posseses high torque. Its light weight and 600 class chassis targets high speed and performance. The bike is equipped with a short-stroke 998cc DOHC, 20-valve, liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder engine that delivers a peak power of 175 bhp. Apart from all the technical stuffs we are astonished to see its style and daring outlook. It impressive and kindles the curiosity to experience to take a ride on it. Its one of my favorite bikes ever since it was released. Hope sport lovers and rash riders wish to have one of this.

Aerodynamic canopy for your sports bike!

Yes you heard it right, now there is an aerodynamic canopy for sports bikes called Rocketshields.

According to the inventor of Rocketshields, David Fermil, the project started with the aim to keep the rain off of David’s face, while commuting daily from Ensenada, Mexico to San Diego.

However it has now evolved into a product which not only protects him from rain and mist, but also from hot winds.

According to David, the canopy can withstand winds at 150mph and still maintain good all around visibility. Add to that one doesn’t need to install any extra mounts or bolts and rocketshield can easily be fixed on stock front and rear mountings of your motorcycle.

While I have to admit that it does look futuristic and would certainly attract a lot of attention, I am not quite sold at the idea of supporting one on my motorcycle.

You can find more about the canopy by visiting Rocketshields official website or by emailing David at david.fermil@rocketshields.info.
